Concern about the crisis of hate speech continues to grow especially as the country inches ever closer to the 2012 general election. On Wednesday, suspended assistant minister Wilfred Machage got back his job, after a case against him was dismissed. The National Cohesion And Integration Commission now says proving hate speech is becoming increasingly difficult. But as NTV’s Nimrod Taabu reports, analysts are now questioning the government’s will to prosecute offenders.

That’s the message from Nairobi City Council town clerk Phillip Khisia, after media reports indicated a court ruling had barred the city council from collecting parking fees. Khisia says parking fees will be collected as is the norm and as NTV’s Robert Nagila reports, the actual ruling had a very different message from the one that did rounds earlier in the day.

Politicians have in the last few weeks ratcheted up their rhetoric following the confirmation of charges against four Kenyan suspects.
