MPs protest against UK's stand on ICC suspects
Saturday February 4, 2012
A group of MPs allied to ICC suspects Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto have reacted angrily to a statement by UK foreign secretary William Hague regarding the duo's presidential aspirations. In a statement read by trade minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere, the MPs claim the United Kingdom has no right to comment on the case. The MPs are headed for a public meeting in Malindi, where Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are chief guests. On Thursday high court judge Isaac Lenaola barred public debate on whether Uhuru and Ruto can run for the presidency.
