Smriti Vidyarthi



Smriti Vidyarthi co-anchors NTV's live prime-time news 'NTV Tonight' and conducts live 30 minute current affair interviews during the breakfast show, 'NTV This Morning'. Since joining NTV in September 2008, Smriti has interviewed high-profile figures on topical issues. These include Nobel Peace Laureate Prof. Wangari Mathai on the Mau forest debate and Minister for Justice, Mutual Kilonzo, on The Hague versus Local Tribunal debate to try post election violence perpetrators.

Smriti has also interviewed the Minister for Finance, Uhuru Kenyatta, on his 2009 Budget-spending plan. She then covered the live event and moderated a panel of experts. Most recently she has led NTV’s coverage of the AGOA (African Growth and Development Act) Forum live from location, as well as the Prime Ministers Four Year Strategic Plan on developing the country.

Smriti has anchored NTV’s coverage of breaking local and international news stories from the Nakumatt and Sachangwan fire tragedies, to Barack Obama's victory as US President and the death of Michael Jackson. In addition, Smriti is part of a reporting team that covers the stories and achievements of local unsung Heroes across the country.

Prior to joining NTV, Smriti worked at K24, Kenya's newest TV news station, as a Business News Anchor.

Smriti has interned with Sky News in the UK and with the BBC in Nairobi and London, where her radio reports were broadcast on the BBC World Service 'Network Africa' progamme.

Smriti was born in Nairobi and holds a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Warwick, UK and a Masters Degree in International Broadcast Journalism from City Universtiy, UK.

Smriti i havnt had a chance to watch you ntv coz currently am in school abroad but i have watched you on K24 before yours is nothing but the best presentation i used to doubt if u r kenyan good job keep it up...

I like your presentation; Its great. But, You pronounce your name so quickly that most of the viewers dont get it right.
