The series focuses on Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross), Maya (Golden Brooks), Lynn (Persia White) and Toni (Jill Marie Jones), a group of friends who consider themselves a family of choice and who share joys and challenges of everyday living in the 21st century. Also included in the family is William (Reggie Hayes), Joans good-natured former colleague and love interest, who is also the girlfriends big brother.
